1. It's a grey and rainy summer holiday here, the sort of slow and slightly dull week after Christmas when time seems to slow down that I remember from being a kid. (In the past few years we have always gone on a trip overseas at this time, so it's been a while). Christmas is really at not quite the right time for New Zealand. It marks the start of the summer break and everyone gets lots of time off - but the weather is usually not right for a beach holiday for another few weeks or so. The Husband is home and I am starting to wonder how we will stay together if he ever retires (just joking ... sort of). This morning, in order to make use of the fact it is pouring down, I dragged out the brushes, rollers and paint tins and started clearing out the spare bedroom which is in dire need of repainting. I half expected him to take one look at it and immediately announce he had to go back to work ..
2. Although it was overcast, it was warmer earlier in the week and we drove out to Lake Wainamu near Bethell's Beach. We walked across the sand dunes to the lake, and all swam. The water was very green and very cold - but that only added to the fun. (Well, the cold did. I could have passed on the green quite happily).
3. Today we went to the Museum, but regretted it fairly quickly. Every poor tourist who has come to Auckland for a sunny holiday had descended on the place in search of something to do out of the rain. It was as crowded as a mall during the Boxing Day sales. The Husband and I don't do crowds so we kept exchanging despairing looks, but Daughter-Two still enjoyed herself.
4. I have been working on her baby book whenever I get the chance:
5. New Project 365 goodies are coming to the store at Designer Digitals this weekend, plus a new winter kit. Here's a sneak peek:
