1. The orgy of organisation is pretty much complete. A little pile of things to be sold online (and a large pile of scrapping magazines!) remain. I was going to wait until The Daughters went back to school but in the end I did it over the weekend, which meant I was constantly plagued by cries of "You can't throw THAT out!!".
2. It's all in the details:
3. We went to Long Bay on Anniversary Day - along with half of Auckland.
Daughter-Two had a great time riding over the waves on her boogie board. It was absurdly windy so lots of choppy little waves. Then The Husband spotted another grey-haired Dad dragging his kids through the shallows on the boogie board. Inspired, he insisted Daughter-Two lie on the board while he pulled her along. Two fathers running up and down the beach, trying to outdo each other (while Daughter-Two winced as the feet splashed the saltwater into her face).
Then The Husband pushed himself too far and tripped over his own feet, while I collapsed in laughter and said "What is this? Competitive old Dads day?".
Unfortunately I said it a bit too loud and earned myself a filthy look from the other competitive old dad.
4. Both Daughters are now back at school. Daughter-Two is particularly happy about this. She also has a new teacher and last night showed us a music video on YouTube that they looked at in class, getting design ideas from. Daughter-One was very sniffy about this. But I thought it was great - after all, how can Daughter-Two fit in with aged parents like us who only listen to talk radio and BBC Radio and who only watch recorded documentaries and "Downtown Abbey" etc on TV? Her favourite music to date is Elgar, Tchaikovsky, Swell Season, Fatboy Slim, The Jam and Paul Kelly .........
5. Here's a sneak peek of some new Photoshop brushes coming to the store at Designer Digitals this weekend:
