The long and the short of it

This was last year in Australia, when we brought Daughter-Two along on a work trip back when we could still travel - but in the middle of forest fire season :-0

We are lucky here in New Zealand that we can STILL travel within the country (at the moment at least). I just got back yesterday from doing just that. A ''summer holiday" that mostly looked like this:

(To be fair, not sure what I was expecting given the next landfall after this is Antarctica - but I wasn't expecting to spend most of a "height of summer" trip in a puffer jacket that I only chucked into the suitcase at the last minute!). I think this photo pretty much sums up my feelings, as I rested the ankle I sprained on the first day  ;-)

 I was fun being away together, though, as always.

I am catching up on scrapping our recent memories, and using the new photobook templates that are fresh in store today:

This was before I went off to Europe by myself early mid-2019. We three had a weekend away, a good chance to reconnect.

This is moving out of the old family house into the downtown apartment where we are now. It was 7 years since I photographed Daughter-Two in an empty house the last time we moved, so I snuck that pic in too. She was a lot more help this time!

What's half price today?

This was January four years ago. This January we are (happily stuck) in New Zealand so no snow fun this year.

Plenty of rain though, as the message that it is mid-summer seems to have been lost in translation. Current status: huddled in a puffer jacket in front of woodburner in a beachside rental!

I've also sprained my ankle (getting into the Uber to get to the airport) and can't find the screen glasses I swore I packed - so all in all it's looking like several days of literal enforced rest!

Happy New Year

I hope the new year brings you joy and peace.

2020 was, for us, a good year. It seems strange to say that because it was such a challenging and painful year as well. But we had some lovely family times and, of course, we are lucky to live in New Zealand so our Covid restrictions were short and sharp. Fingers crossed they remain a success ...  And Daughter-Two graduated from high school and was able to walk across the stage to collect her prizes. They don't do caps and gowns and all the other regalia here for anything other than university graduations, but it was a big day nonetheless and we felt very lucky that she was able to do that.

I scrapped her big day with a new template set that has just landed in the store as part of the January BYOC.

I have also been using it to scrap my latest album, featuring photos taken by my parents .. a while back!
